What does it mean to linger in the past, in a world that pressures us to just move on?

Chao Bing: A Read-Only Memory Experience is an interactive memoir in the style of a CD-ROM storybook game. Explore my childhood memories woven into a story about the ennui of adult life–all rendered in a 640 x 480 pixel resolution.

Chao Bing is a game forever in its own making, writing, and rewriting. It's a game, and also a game about the performative act of making a game.

I love the nostalgic style of the game and it's what initially pulled me to it. The minigames were such a fun and creative way to get those "glimpse to the past" moments. Some of them really felt like revisiting my own childhood like the Kumon math problems lol. I pulled out pen and paper and went all out. I played the piano until I could get through the whole thing without a mistake, another thing that really brought up some memories.
I also just feel very inspired to learn how to create something similar so maybe I'll start my own dev journey ;)
Thank you for for the amazing art you put out! and remember to take it easy <3

this means so much, thank you!! <3
